Ok so we’re doing something a little different.
Ceremony Reception and then like an after reception at our house because we’re doing fireworks which would be starting between 8:30 and 9 probably closer to 9 since sunset it technically at 8:45
Question is how long is a good length to figure on for a reception w/ a full dinner and dancing that isn’t going to be to short or two long
I was thinking 4 hours does that seem reasonable.

- Wedding: August 2013 - Brookfield Zoo
The itinerary my venue/coordinator provided allows for 4 hours for the reception, so I think it’s reasonable since that venue does it all the time 🙂

Cocktails at 5pm. Dinner at 6:30pm. Live band at 8:30pm. Fireworks display at 10:30pm. Guests have the option to go home after the fireworks or stay till the band finishes at 12:30am.
That’s 4 hrs from dinner till fireworks, with the option to party for another 2 hours.

Ours is 4 hours (with the option to pay for an additional hour). Seeing as it’s a Sunday night though, I think we’ll play that extra hour by ear and see who is still up to party (unless we have to pay for the extra hour beforehand, then we just might forgo that). Most venues are 4 hours for receprion and i think that is enough time. It does fly by I heard.
