Looking for a good reception site in the Bloomington area. Something simple but pretty, for around 100 guests, that ISN’T an airport hotel, you know?
Any ideas appreciated! 🙂

my sister had her wedding reception at Centennial Lakes. It’s actually in Edina, but only like 2 mins from bloomington right off France Avenue. She had 110 guests I believe and it was gorgeous! She had the ceremony under their outdoor canopy/amphitheater and the reception indoors in the chalet type room. It has a fireplace, balcony deck over the river, and best of all they allow you to select your OWN caterer! It was around $1000 to rent for the entire day which isn’t bad. It turned out gorgeous, plus that area is perfect for pics! hope this helps!

If you want something outdoors, there are a variety of parks including Hyland nature preserve, Normandale Lake, and Centennial Lakes (Edina). If you get out of Bloomington about 10 minutes, you have Minnehaha Park with the falls, bandshell, and picnic areas, plus the other lakes. For something a little more traditional, you could try Edinborough (Edina near Centennial Lakes), Sheridan Hotel, Hotel Sofitel, Oak City restaurant, or Ciao Bella restaurant.
What kind of venue are you looking for?
One of my besties got married last summer. Her reception was at the zoo! It’s technically in Apple Valley, but it’s close. It was really nice. It was in a room near one of the aquariums, and it was really awesome to watch the animals swim by through the whole thing. I also got some adorable photos of her flower girls staring with awe into the smaller pool with the stingrays. It was such a cool location!
