My husband and I had a similar issue, he’s from NJ and I’m from CA, but we lived in NC.  We ultimately decided to have the wedding near us for a few reasons: CA and NJ are super expensive places to have weddings and we didn’t want to have to plan from long distance.  Like you, we planned around our guests since 90% of them had to travel, we made it a point to have our wedding in an easy to reach location (hotel, ceremony and all events at the same place), hosted 3 events over 3 days, and made sure there was plenty for our guests to do within walking distance.  Everyone had a great time and it made figuring out favors easy (homemade snacks for the plane ride).  My vote would definitely be to have it in KS.

MrsZynxy:  Not at all, in fact, many of our guests used our wedding as an excuse for an extended vacation lol.  I think the other key thing is to keep your hotel costs to a min, most people won’t mind something around $100 or under per night.  Just be prepapred to give people +1s and let them bring their small children.
