I was born and raised in Madison…Fiance and I live in Milwaukee now but will be getting married in Madison and I checked out lots of venues in the area.

What kind of feeling are you going for? modern downtown feel, something more rustic? hotel? outdoor?

Do you have any idea of about what your budget is?

We’re having our reception at Best Western Inn on the Park-Capitol Square.  FI’s whole side is from out of town, so it was important for us to find a venue that had the hotel connected so people didn’t have to worry about driving/trying to find a hotel after drinking. Inn on the Park was considerably less expensive than Edgewater and Monona Terrace (with rentals, food prices and hotel room rates).

You should check out their packages…we’re having 350 guests and I think this place could fit into your budget. Good luck!

We are doing ours at the Edgewater. I initially wasn’t even thinking of that as a possibility – I assumed it would be far beyond what we could afford. My mom checked into it, though, and it’s a lot less outrageous than we thought it would be. She really wanted to have it there, so we caved.

I’ll report back and let you know how it goes. Certain things about it I really like; I have reservations about other things, though, and I’m just holding my breath to see how it goes.

I got married on the golf course of the Wilderness Resort in the Dells. It was amazing and a great little get away.
