- Wedding: April 2012
I’ve seen others post about this, but it was years ago….
Our ceremony is at 2:00pm (Catholic) and will be in downtown Charleston, SC. The reception is 3 blocks away and I’ve having trouble figuring out the time the reception should start and how long it should last for.
Family coming in from out of states and friends/family 2 hours away. Generally people don’t stay for the whole reception anyways but initially I wanted the reception to end at 8 for people to get home at a decent hour…err theres so much crazy stuff about this whole subject.
Since the celebration is in downtown Charleston there is PLENTY do to and lots to see and I want people to feel like coming down for the wedding will also feel like a vacation to. But we don’t want people to be crazy bored if the gap is too long. Should we start the reception at 5:00pm? And how long does receptions usually last for? Should we end it at 9pm? I have no clue…
Another thing is we’re confused about having a DJ or band..the atmosphere of the reception is an art gallery style (exposed brick and beams, painting, hardwood floors) and it would look more appropriate for a band to be there, but please tell me your thoughts!
