We want to have our reception at a restaurant that is two stories. We want to have dinner upstairs then move downstairs to the bar to dance (dj) and have cake, etc. Some of the members of my fiancés family don’t drink including his mother and grandmother and his cousins and aunts have children so I don’t know if they would be drinking a lot. My family on the other hand are partiers and love to drink. My sister thinks if we have this kind of reception my family would be downstairs and my fiancés would be upstairs. I really love the idea of having dancing and stuff downstairs, I feel as it would allow a relaxed atmosphere and people would be more comfortable to dance and let loose, rather than a super formal reception. I do see my sister’s point but I am torn. If we do not have the reception like this we will have to go with the barn reception idea where there would be no bar just beer and wine at an outdoor venue. Help I don’t know how to please both family’s!
