Hi fellow brides 🙂
My fiancee and I live in Lowell, MA and are looking for a recpetion venue either in Boston, North of Boston, or in Sourthern New Husband or quite possible Southern Maine.
We are planning on appx 100 guests. Food being good is a priority as well as photo opportunities since we will be having both the ceremony and reception there. We would like to stay under 12,000 total but would be willing to spend 15 for the right event.
I’d really like an estate wedding but don’t think we can afford it. I like the aquarium as well as the Museum of Science but have looked at some more convential places like Danversport Yacht Club, the Granite Rose in New Husband (both of which I loved but thought were just too cookie cutter). I also want to either be the only wedding or have them staggered enough that our guests aren’t arriving at the same time.

I think an estate wedding for 12-15K is possible – but it will depend on what kind of catering you want. Catering is probably what will affect your costs the most – plated vs. buffet, full bar vs. wine/beer, etc.
Have you looked at the Codman Estate in Lincoln, MA? For an estate, their site fees seem more affordable.

If you’re willing to go to southern ME, you should check out the Stage Neck Inn in York Harbor. We got married there in September and it was beautiful. We had an oceanside ceremony and they are surrounded on 3 sides by water, it’s a beautiful location. There’s even a beach right next to the hotel. The food was delicious, and it isn’t super expensive. Our total wedding budget was $15k for about 100 people, and I think we went slightly over, but only because my parents kept adding things. 🙂
