I need some expert consultation with the bees!
So when we were looking for reception venues, our guestlist had already been completed and it was set at 150. But since then, relatives from out of state let us know that they would be flying in for the wedding (my Mom had told me they wouldn’t come as they rarely leave Hawaii). Now the guestlist is starting to look closer to 175.
The problem is that our venue can only comfortably hold 150 on the upper level. We have the option of taking up both the first floor and the second floor but I’m worried that people on the bottom floor will feel left out since most people will be on the top floor.
One potential (hopefully fun) solution is to make the bottom floor the football area. Our wedding is on a Sunday so there will definitely be a lot of sports fans who are secretly dying to watch the game. The venue has large TVs behind the bar so they could have the game on. We would of course make our way down there to mingle and we would make announcements so people know when toasts, etc. are going on so they know to come up if they want to.
Some background – we are going for a fun and casual vibe. It’s a daytime reception. The venue is a loft and we have an outdoor patio that we’re going to set up with karaoke (nod to my Filipino roots).
In your honest opinion – is the football idea lame? If you think it is, any suggestions what else I can do?
