Our budget was around the same when we started looking.  Here are the places that we checked out:

Tamarack Golf Club, Naperville
Danada House, Wheaton
DoubleTree Hotel, Oak Brook
Abbington, Glen Ellyn
Ashton Place, Willowbrook

And a little out of our price range but in the area:
Meson Sabika, Naperville
Grotto, Oak Brook
Hotel Arista, Naperville
Brookfield Zoo, Brookfield
Cantigny, Wheaton
Morton Arboretum, Lisle

We searched for a venue forever and actually visited all of these places (and more)!  If you want to know any details on a specific place, let me know!

I visited the Chateau Buche but the big room upstairs just didnt fit what I wanted. I was looking really for a country club with big windows overlooking the golf course. I also wanted an outdoor balcony. I did like the Chateau Buche and I have a friend that got married there.

I actually picked Odyssey Country Club. We ended up doing a Friday wedding to save on some money. Jaclyn is one of the people we dealt with and she was very nice. They have a Sunday brunch, it’s a good way to test out their food and see their place. If you want any more information feel free to email me. 🙂 Good luck hun.

From a bride who settled on a venue because my parents could get a good price, I’m telling you dont settle. Make sure you go for what you want. AND it never hurts to ask. I kept on asking about things and they made it work with my budget. Oh and I think October might be their slow season. They were saying if i moved my date to October they could save me some money.

Okay one last thing then I’m done I swear. I went to DiNolfo’s Banquets. There are two, one in Mokena and one in Homer Glen. I fell in love with the one in Homer Glen and they also have an beautiful indoor ceremony site. They were my second choice but the ceremony site would not hold my guest. (I’m inviting about 300) Again let me know if you have any questions.

I looked at Ashton Place and the facility is nice and I liked that they just had a price you had to meet. You didn’t have to have a certain number of guests, just meet a certain amount.

I went to Niko’s and the event coordinator was craaazy. She was super pushy and the place smelled funny. The banquet hall was pretty but it wasn’t worth putting up with her. And if you have a small wedding, the smaller non-banquet room is odd shaped and not very good for a reception.

If you have a bigger wedding, the main floor of Willowbrook Ballroom would work.

Also try Gaelic Park in Oak Forest. They recently renovated one of their rooms.

Last time I was in Garden Chalet, it looked run down. They may have fixed the ceiling and old decor by now.

Hey! I had a similar post a few months ago. I am also looking in the southwest suburbs. So far my favorite places were the Wilder Mansion in Elmhurst, Cantigny, and I even liked the Willowbrook Ballroom (it had a very nostalgic feel). Here is the link to my post, I got several posts from some very helpful bees. Good Luck!! : )

Fortunes fool 21,

We decided on DiNolfo’s at Homer Glen, also. It was the 1st place we visited and my fiance wanted it ASAP. We visited 5 more places but my fiance was dead set on DiNolfo’s.  DiNolfo’s was the best price/value, beautiful interiors, and has free parking (try getting that at downtown Chicago!), and the most professional staff we met.  (There was one golf course where the staff who met us was in flip flops. Yikes!) DiNolfo’s gives discounts for Friday or afternoon receptions, I believe.  Good luck!

Lake Katharine on College Dr. in Palos Heights has a great club house that seats 100 people. You can do the cermony outside on the lake, parking is free and they have in house catering. I would have used them myself, but I can get my guest list under 150, let alone 100. It’s totally amazing and off the beaten path. Check it out.
