It’s has been a while but the date is steadily approaching. We have found a venue, a church with a fellowship hall, and a beautiful courtyard. The problem is the fellowship would hold 180, with no space for dancing, and besides I want people to be comfortable not squished. The courtyard leads into the fellowship hall with beautiful windows. I was thinking to use the area for mingling and appetizers while we took pictures as well as additional seating. Or maybe move the party outside for dancing, bouquet toss etc.
Question, would that be tacky do have additional seating outside?
Do you of you ladies have any alternatives?
Also, am I jumping the gun, cause we are trying to keep our guest list around 200 and I know everyone won’t show, but you never know.

Some churches don’t allow dancing, and since you still have time on your side I’d check into that first then book a second, separate reception location if need be.

What makes me nervous is you would have no backup plan in case it rains. Hopefully you have a nice day weatherwise. But if you don’t, you would not be able to have any dancing at all because your inside location doesnt have room for it. Therefore I don’t think you should bank on needing the outside location to accommodate anything (dinner seating, dancing, etc)
I agree about looking into the cost of booking a separate reception hall

I wouldn’t put people outside. Some bees do it but I don’t like it since it separates some people from the speeches, etc. Could you set up a tent in the courtyard just for dancing?

@AlwaysSunny: Yes, good idea. That was exactly what I was thinking.
