My Fiance and I are really excited to honeymoon in Puerto Rico for 4 nights before hopping on a 7-day Southern Caribbean cruise! We still need to pick the PR hotel, however. I’ll be scouring online reviews, but I wondered if anyone here has had first-hand experience. We’re open to any area — beach front, historic district, downtown — and we’ll be looking to spend about $100-$130/night (which seems reasonable in PR for a quite good, but not 5-star hotel).
Any Puerto Rico hotels to recommend? Thanks!

El Convento in Old San Juan. It may be a bit more than you mention, but it is incredible.

I like the Marriott in the Condado area (beach front) which may be considered Old San Juan (if not, it’s very close!) or the El San Juan in Isla Verde (also beach front and close to the airport). Both are within walking distance to plenty of restaurants and both have small casinos inside, if you enjoy a little gambling.
My fav restaurant in the Dragonfly in Old San Juan. Check it out! 🙂

I’d recommend trying to find a place in Old San Juan, it’s such a cute city. We stayed at Casa Candela, which was great, especially the view from the top floor room we had, but I’m not sure if it’s what you would be looking for in a honeymoon spot as it was really open air (no windows) and sort of in between a hotel and hostel.

We stayed at the Condado Plaza – Beautiful hotel and casino and there’s a great little beach behind it. Not sure what the price per night is. usually I stay at my dad’s though. Chez Pops. 🙂

The Sheraton in Old San Juan is also pretty good. Nice room, a small casino in the main floor, really cool view from the rooftop pool area. Though we’ve only stayed there once and it was only one night (because our flight arrived really late and we didn’t feel like driving the 2-3 hours to my parents’ house just to drive up to San Juan again the next day). It was also quite inexpensive, around $100 if I remember correctly.
Here’s some pics from the top floor:

We really liked La Concha, a very modern beachfront hotel. All the rooms face the ocean so you are guaranteed a good view, the grounds are beautifully landscaped, and the beach is right outside. Getting to Old San Juan is very easy by bus or cab.
