Eastbound and Down (I think this is hilarious but it is a certain kind of humor)

For strong female lead and depending on what you’re looking for, I’d say: Parks and Recreation (fun and funny and my absolute fave), Man in the High Castle (very interesting/keeps you guessing), Glow (super fun, kinda silly), Dear White People (fun, but can be intense), The Handmaid’s Tale (very dark and intense, but excellent), Grace and Frankie (really sweet). Also Sex in the City all day every day and Shameless is awesome too.

I love me some strong female leads. Some of these have already been listed, but they are really good so deserve being repeated.

– Outlander (my current favourite, but not sure if it’s on amazon. It’s not on netflix)
– The Good Wife (+ spinoff, The Good Fight)
– Stranger Things
– Sense8
– Star Trek: Discovery
– Call the Midwife
– Jessica Jones
– Doctor Foster
– Pride and Prejudice (BBC Miniseries)
– Broadchurch
– Godless
– Orphan Black
– The Sinner
– Orange Is The New Black
– The Fall
– Alias Grace
– The Handmaid’s Tale
– Bomb Girls

Damn, I watch too much TV…

Female Leads:

  • Alias Grace
  • The Crown
  • Borgen – Danish so subtitles but its amazing.
  • Happy Valley – its British so not many people have heard of it in the US but its fantastic and such great female characters. On netflix.
  • Stranger Things
  • Westworld
  • Big Little Lies
  • Handmaids tale – although its Hulu sorry

Not Female Leads but still great:

  • Band of Brothers – if anyone hasnt seen it already, you should. Its just incredible.
  • John Adams – Laura Linney is a great Abigail Adams! All the stories id heard about the formation of the US are usually told about Washington so I found it really interesting to see a story more focused on Adams, Franklin and Jefferson.
  • Black Mirror
  • Peaky Blinders
  • The Leftovers – Carrie Coon and Ann Dowd are incredible. This show is one of my favourite all time shows. Season 1 is the weakest but still great.
  • Mad Men
