I am taking a very short trip, including a plane flight, in a few weeks. I’ll be in Boston for about 36 hours or so. I’d like to find a bag to take that I can carry-on, but could check if necessary (gate checks are likely as the plane will probably be a small regional commuter plane). I like the size/function of the Vera Bradley duffels – is there anything else I should be looking at? I am not interested in a wheeled bag, I have a couple of those.

I use a longchamp bag for quick trips. They’re surprisingly roomy.

I use a Vera duffel as well, it’s nice and has plenty of room ….which is great since I tend to buy things on trips, haha.

I like my Vera Weekender bag. It fits under the seat and counts as a personal item, so technically I can bring it and a carry on.

I own a few of these and I LOVE THEM!!! Read the reviews, they will make you a believer. There are tons of this brand on Overstock.com, one of them will fit what you are looking for, but I have the one below and I swear it will last forever and look amazing. I have had mine for years and it still looks new.

I use the weekend bag from thirty one. I absolutely love it! But the only drawback of it is that it doesn’t have wheels, so you do have to carry it.

I second the Longchamp. It’s a beautiful shape and can be used all the time as a gym bag etc. And it’s not TOO, TOO expensive so you can start to amass a little luggage collection. I also like that it coordinates with the bag I use on a day to day basis. It can also fit under the seat or in the overhead.
