@Swoon714:  I’m in an active NoVa cover band, and we worked with a DJ on New Year’s Eve this year {he played between our sets}.  He was very friendly and considerate.  I’ll try to track down his info for you!

Swoon714:  I’m not sure what your budget is, but we’re using Nathan at C&J Entertainment. He did my sister’s wedding and was fantastic! I think he’s $750 or so for four hours. We’re closer to Baltimore, but I know they do weddings in DC too.  http://www.candjentertainment.com/

We used DJ Aaron from the Davis Event Group.  I have nothing but great things to say about Jan Davis (the owner) and DJ Aaron.  We had a 4 hour afternoon reception so we were able to negotiate a better rate than the typical 5 hour Saturday night reception package.  Good luck!

Swoon714:  Check out Washington Celebrations (http://www.washingtoncelebrations.com/). We really liked working with them. They were very professional, responsive, etc. You may want to check with them regarding your specific needs, since the mininum # of hours they list on their price list we received was 5, which comes to $1,150. Good luck!

I recommend DJ Scott West http://djscottwest.com/

We have him for 5 hours for right around 1k. He is super fun and really likes to make it a fun party.

We used Black Tie DJ’s http://www.musicdj.com/

They did a wonderful job. It was 1900 for the entire event, including lighting, a DJ assistant, and ceremony music, I believe. Our DJ was Matt and he was wonderful. Dave Melton, the owner, is awesome as well.

Shewsical! http://www.shew-sical.com/

We booked one of their DJs (Dustin) for 5.5 or 6 hours and I think it might have been $850 or $900. This was for guest seating music, ceremony music, cocktail hour and reception. We had a wonderful experience with them.

We booked DJ InkSpin, he’s a friend of my fiance’s but you can hear him usually at Josephine’s or Lux Lounge in DC. [email protected]; I’m sure he’ll give you a great rate!
