Fiance and I are trying to sell an old engagement ring. He was engaged once to a terrible bi-atch who cheated on him years before he and I met. Long story short – we want to sell it. We had it appraised and have a GIA certification, but we don’t need the cash so we don’t want to just take it to a pawn shop.
Does anyone have any experience doing this or any recommendations? I would prefer to not do something like this over Craigslist because I wouldn’t want to meet someone in person and risk them stealing it from me, among other things. Fiance works all the time so this is something I am doing pretty much on my own.
We would prefer to do this online.
It’s a 1 ct princess cut solitare in a plain gold setting, so it’s worth some decent money.
Any recommendations would be most appreciated. Thanks ladies!

Maybe Ebay? We’ve sold electronics on there before, and it’s always worked out for us.

I’d look into estate jewelers in your city. That’s the most trustworthy option, I think.

ebay, classifieds online… i’d actually say craigslist especially now a days (engagement season) and have them meet you in a place or near a place like a jewelry store or some other place like that… let’s see i’d try the online places like bravo bride as well. they have a section where you can buy wedding dresses.

It couldn’t hurt to ask a local jewelry store if they would take it as a trade. Then you could get something pretty for yourself, like earrings or something. It’s engagement season so if you go now they might make a deal.
