Couples Resorts in Jamaica are fantastic. We went to Tower Isle and loved it.

We went to a Secrets Resort for our honeymoon. It is way cheaper than Sandals and it caters to couples, especially honeymooners. From what I’ve heard, the ones with the best beaches would be Secrets Maroma, Secrets Akumal or the ones in Jamaica. We went to the one in Cabo and it was incredible, although it isn’t know for the beach, but I can attest to how amazing the resort is.

We are going to Hotel Xcaret with a group of friends this February – haven’t gone yet, but our travel agent highly recommended it! It’s a new resort, and all of the excursions are included in the price, so it’s really great bang for your buck (if you’re in to doing excursions).

It’s in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Check it out, it has GREAT reviews and breathtaking photos!

Like I said from what I know, the Secrets Maroma is the best of the best with the top beach. I can only attest to the Secrets in Cabo and the food was phenomenal. And best of all the restaurants don’t need any reservations, you can go at whatever time you are ready to go at and unlimited amount of times. We are looking into going to Maroma, so I have read a great deal about it and I have read nothing but rave reviews about the food as well as the resort.

beka86 :  you might also want to look at the El Dorado Maroma. It’s on Maroma beach (like SMB) and is also adult’s only/5*/all inclusive etc. It gets great reviews and offers a number of room options inc overwater villas. And the El Dorado Casita Suites may also be worth a look.

ETA: from what I’ve seen a lot of Sandals resorts seem dated (IMPO) and overpriced. They tend to be more popular in areas where there are fewer resorts to choose from/less competition. One reason why the standard is so high in Mexico is because of the sheer number of resorts and the amount of competition; I find it to be excellent value for that reason, plus there’s a wider variety so somehting to suit all tastes and budgets.

Like PPs have said, Secrets! We booked Secrets Cap Cana in the DR for this year. I did SO much research and it seemed like you get more for your money (and way less expensive) at Secrets resorts then Sandals, though Sandals has some resorts in destinations Secrets doesn’t.

We went to The Caves in Jamaica and were in love. It’s smaller, so it’s a much more intimate setting. It’s adult only and the food is fantastic. Clear water, but since it’s on the cliff side, there isn’t an actual beach. I though that would bother me, but it didn’t. We just jumped in (cliff diving is super fun), or went down the ladders on the cliffs into the water. It was so amazing, and the staff was incredible. We’re actually planning to go back for one of our bigger anniversaries!
