I’m happy to see a South Asian board here. I could use some input on shoes.
I bought shoes in India to go with my ceremony and reception outfits, and I’m happy with my ceremony shoes. I am, however, having second thoughts about my reception shoes. They’re gold thong with high heels, but I worry about dancing in them. Does anyone have suggestions for me? I’d like an open toe style, since I think those typically go best with saris and lehngas, but I would consider closed toe.
My lehnga is green, gold and maroon.
Thanks in advance.

Why not get lower heeled gold shoes? There’s lots out right now and if you get a pair with a back and an ankle strap you should be fine.

I’m planning to wear 3" platforms because you don’t really see the shoes under a lengha and they will be comfortable as well.

I’ve ordered these from Zappos (returnable for free just in case they don’t look good)…but I think they will be perfect:
I wanted something that will look a bit different, though…these are definitely not typical lengha shoes, but I think they will look striking (my red lengha has some emerald green embroidery).

I just had my wedding reception, and I bought "Nina" shoes. They have nice shoes, and they are comfortable! I would highly recommend them. My feet didnt start feeling uncomfortable till like 1am.

@ rkbride: where did you get the "Nina" shoes from? What company? I am desperately trying to find something I’ll be comfortable in because I normally never wear heels!
