I’m getting really excited about my younger sister’s pregnancy and I’ve heard that “What to Expect… ” can be kind of scary to read. Is there any books/resources that would be good for a young first-time mother? She is 19 and she still wants to continue schooling (yay!) and has a rather large support network, but I would like to be able to assist her also with some sort of reading. 🙂

Here is a link to an awesome blog post that lists which books not to read, then offers 3 better alternatives for each topic. I chose my pregnancy books based on this list and have been very pleased with the books I got.

I personally don’t find WTE…scary. I like to know what could happen, so I feel like I am fully prepared. For me, it was actually EMPOWERING, but you know your sister better than me! I’ve mostly read things online + WTE + Mayo clinic’s book.

Maybe Girlfriend’s Guide to Pregnancy? But if I was 19 I think even that might freak me out!
