Hello Ladies, I hope you are all well! I heard something the other day that I wanted to share with you. Its become a popular thing in years past for people to release doves during or after their ceremony. The problem is that doves are not equipped to fend for themselves in the wild. They do not know how to find food, protect themselves from predators or even find appropriate shelter to protect themselves from the elements be it heat or cold. In NYC right now, they are attemptimg to rescue the doves, but the law forbids them from saving birds that aren’t sick. So they have to wait until the doves are sick until they can rescue them, at which time it may be too late. I’ve heard that there are some types of birds that look like doves that have better survival instincts, but I don’t know the literature to share with you. I just ask that you keep this in mind if you are considering releasing doves.
