@HoyaLawya2010:  Darling Husband and have looked into the Hilton Moorea & Lagoon Spa Resort.  It’s a good deal cheaper than the Hilton in Bora Bora (and cheaper to fly to as well).  If you fly to Bora Bora, you’re probably going to pay an additional $500 per person for the inter-island flight.  While the overwater bungalows look amazing, if you can’t find a deal to fit your budget, they also have some wonderful beach suites that have private plunge pools.

Also look at the Moorea Pearl Resort, it seems to be more affordable.  I’ve been reading lots and lots of good reviews about the travel agent Pacific-For-Less, so look them up.  They seem to be quite popular amongst the Trip Advisor reviews.

Another thing, I also checked out Moorea/Bora Bora on vrbo and was amazed at the deals…literally, 50-75% less than the resorts.  So, depending on what you are wanting out of your trip, you might want to check out vrbo.com as well!

Good luck!

@HoyaLawya2010: I swear I’m not creeping on you or anything, but I came across an old post that said you’re getting married at Carnegie on 11/12/11.  If that’s still accurate, it means you are getting married the day before me at my venue!!  So we may be rehearsing just before your vendors start arriving.  I just thought it was a funny coincidence…

We had requested your date, but by the time we engaged and contacted them (the second week of January), every Saturday in 2011 was already booked.  So we took that Sunday, which was one of the few still available this year.  I guess it’s a popular place?

We also briefly discussed the idea of going to Tahiti for the honeymoon, but since we’ll only have about a week, we’re probably going to Hawaii instead (and hopefully saving Tahiti for an anniversary in the not-too-distant future).

Like JsDragonfly said going to more than 1 island in the French Polynesian might not be possible with that budget. Moorea is a lot cheaper theb Bora Bora, and I would not recomment Tahiti even though it is the cheapest.

We are going to Bora Bora and Moorea for our honeymoon this December for 8 days. Our budget is a little higher and we opted to split our time between Moorea and Bora Bora to make the trip fit within our budget. The Hilton Moorea offers pool bungalows with their own private pool, but it’s not over water. With that said, my friend just came back from his honeymoon in Bora Bora, in an over water bungalow (no jacuzzi…that costs A LOT) for 5 days and spent about your budget. Something to keep in mind is that food is extremely expensive there. It is about 100$ a person for a meal.

Both my friend and I booked through [email protected]

We stayed at the Hilton in Moorea. We had an over water bungalow, but I heard that the beach bunglows are gorgeous and they have a private little pool too. Just beware that the roosters on the beach in the morning can be pretty loud.

Yay! Glad to hear you were able to get what you wanted. A warning though, my friends and travel agent told us that Tahiti isn’t as picturesque as the other islands, and it is very dull.
