So last week I went in for my annual and was informed that what was previously not a standard test to test for HPV is now standardized. I just recieved a call from my OB/GYN clinic to let me know that I show evidence of the HPV virus but no further action is required as my test results are otherwise normal. No action at this time is needed other than I need to come back in another year (as standard) to restest – as per the standard.
Flash back to 2008 – I was diagnosed with HPV and had abnormal cells. I had to undergo a colposcopy and cervical biopsy bit no further action was required other than continued monitoring for the past 5 years in which no further cellular abnormality occured.
So I guess I am wondering if I need to be more concerned than my doctor appears to be? I realize that HPV is generally life long and is generally not problematic as long as those cells continue to behave. I am just concerned that I never realized that they were not actually testing me for the virus as I had thought that my body had cleared it up… perhaps it had and now it is showing up again for whatever reason.. it would be good to know but unfortuantly there is nothing to compare against..
Anybody have any experience or advise with this?? I am kind of scared..
