@PrincessPiggy:  I just tell Fiance to wipe it off lol. But I haven’t taken the time to find a good brand that stays on well either.

I JUST read in a magazine that the key is to exfoliate, then apply the red with a brush, then brush the lips with loose powder and reapply the lipstick.  Also, Max Factor has a really good 12 hour stain/gloss combo if they’re still making it.  Lipfinity is the line.

I had red lips on our wedding day. I used covergirl outlast. It was a duo. First you put this stain on and left it for about 2 minutes and then you used a lip gloss type thing to revitalize it through out the day. It was AWESOME!! It never faded, never smeared, and didn’t get on anything! That is what I recommend!!

This picture is from the end of the night and you can still see how red my lips are:

i wear red lips almost daily! i ditto the lipstain then a lipstick on top set with a powder.  i have both cover girl and revlon lipstains and they do work well. charlotte ronson or josie maran has some you can sample at sephora which may work better at first so you don’t have to buy it in case you don’t like it.  Also, the brand fresh has a lip sugar scrub that i would get a sample of too if you are at sephora so you can ensure that all the dead skin is off your lips because if you stain that, it will hold more of the pigment. i personally think that the classic reds are ruby woo or russian red by mac or jungle red by nars.  I never have a problem with feathering but if you find that you do, then i would brush concealer on your lips first then line and completely fill in with a red liner.

For my wedding I wore Maybelline SuperStay 24 hour lipstick. It was really amazing. I wore a dark rose color and it stayed on for ever. I also have the same lipcolor in a ruby red and I usually have to take it off with makeup remover at the end of the night because it stays on for so long. I can also kiss Darling Husband with it and it won’t transfer at all. It might fade a tiny bit after you eat but you can reapply it if you want it to reaally last.

I’ve also tried the maybelline 14 hour stay but it doesn’t really last as long, and I end up reapplying it much sooner than the 24-hour one.

You should try it out and see how much it lasts on you! I’ve seen it at Target in the $7-9 range
