I’m MOG in charge of doing the flowers. I’m thinking 2 doz. in the bride’s bouquet, 1 doz. in ea. Bridesmaid or Best Man bouquet, and 9-12 rozes in ea. table bouquet. I’ve looked at Global Roses, Sam’s Club, and Fifty Flowers. The wedding is Aug. 27th in NW Iowa (it may be hot), but I have a fridge for storage. I also plan on doing a practice order for our 4th of July party.
Any recommendations on where to purchase (probably about 500 roses). Also, should I store in A/C’d room to get them to open, and for how long? And what variety of red roses has anyone used. Thanks!!

i ordered mine from sams club – we are doing all roses too.
my wedding is in 9 days – when they come in i can show you some pictures so you can see how they turned out. they should be here next thrusday and we are doing bouquets on friday.
my Future Sister-In-Law ordered from growersbox.com and they turned out beautifully – her wedding was August 14th in South Carolina- hottest weekend EVER! well at least hottest weekend of the summer by far. they were fine. we just kept them in a dark air conditioned room.

I have heard great things about Sams clug and Costco.
^ 75 red roses from Costco for $99.99

i guess i should add – i was told to cut them as soon as they arrive and place them in water in an air conditioned space. i would keep them in the AC until they are ready to be used. i was told to have them delivered 2-3 days prior to the wedding so they have time to open up.

@totheislnds: Did your Future Sister-In-Law get all the fillers too?
Do you have an estimated cost for your bouquets?

I’ve heard great things about 50flowers.com – I think they also have information on their website about storing/cutting/arranging the flowers.

@tranquility: she bought the fillers from them as well (growersbox.com) – im not doing fillers for mine just red roses.
since we arent having floral centerpieces (we are using black candelabras) i only needed my bouquet 8 bouts and 5 bridesmaids bouquets.
i bought 125 red roses for 158.00 from sams club. that included shipping 🙂

I’ve ordered from both Global Rose and Sam’s clubs for flowers and was extremely pleased with both places. I highly recommend either or both of them.

@totheislnds: Thanks so much for the pics! Beautiful job! That’s pretty much what we’re thinking, maybe with a little tree fern mixed in and I’d like to try a few crystals or beads mixed in. As I recall, Sam’s Club flowers didn’t give you much of a choice for red colors. We want the darker red over the bright red. I can’t tell for sure if yours were bright red or not. Did you put 30 roses in yours and 12 in the Bridesmaid or Best Man bouquets? Also, what conditions did you store and when did you recieve the roses to get them to open up so beautifully? I used to work at a flower shop and the roses were always in a cooler, and they hardly ever opened up like that until they were about dead. Thanks!

Heres a site i came across in looking for flowers and if you call them they will place the order for you because Aug is not yet up to place orders. I know b/c i plan to get 500 roses from here also for my Aug wedding. So good luck and i hope this helped 🙂

I ordered some flowers from Sam’s Club and some from FiftyFlowers.com, and all were gorgeous. Sam’s is definitely cheaper, but doesn’t have the same selection.
I received mine on Wednesday morning and we made the bouquets on Thursday night; the ceremony was Friday night. A day earlier (or even two) would have been fine.
A tip I got that really worked out for me: Buy several big orange paint buckets from Home Depot – they’re cheap, and perfect for holding the flowers for the first day or two until they bloom. I just kept them indoors with A/C running, out of direct sun.

Checkout local wholesale flower nurseries. I believe that typically a business license is required to purchase flowers in bulk, but I’ve heard that they sometimes make exceptions. My friend ordered flowers from CostCo and they came out great!
