Hi everyone! I am an American bride getting married in a Scottish Castle next September! I am having a hard time picking wedding colors because the castle has a red and yellow carpet everywhere…. and I don’t really like those colors. Any sugguestions? I was thinking Navy Blue dresses with a autumn color bouquet but I’m still not in love. I really wanted to do purple but that doesn’t go.

msmegg3: That looks to be a fairly small room. Could you simply cover the carpet with a runner if it bothers you that much?
I would use the color palette I loved and ignore the carpet.

julies1949: it does look smaller in the picture but it is a good size room…

msmegg3: What I meant was, it’s not a room completely carpeted in red. It’s a runner. It can be covered if you so choose.

I don’t see any problem with purple and red together. I don’t think red has to be one of your colors, just as long as the colors generally work well together. I think navy will go well too.
I also wouldn’t say yellow is very prominent, so I’d just ignore that. It’s more of a gold anyway.

The other elements of the room are so beautiful I would go with rich jewel tones to play up the wood etc.
