Ok so I have been back and forth on doing wedding favors. Most of the time the little trinket either gets left behind or thrown out. So with that in mind, I was going to opt out of doing favors. Yet I still have this feeling that I should be doing something even though I was going to put that money saved from favors towards the food and drink aspect of the reception.
I have been rethinking the favor situation again, and feel that I still should have something, but what? I have been reading that edible is the way to go but with so many food allergies existing and peoples tastes what to choose…
So I just came up with an idea and I’m not sure how silly/stupid it is so I need your help Bee’s to honestly let me know what you think of this idea…
My fiance and I are avid movie watchers. We can’t justify $10 ea on a movie so we wait 99.9% of the time for the movie to come to Redbox. So I was thinking of doing a one night movie rental and bag of microwave popcorn as our favors. This is a favor that is based on my fiance and i, and something I thought might be a big hit……or not.
What do you think?

I have Netflix and don’t use redbox. So I’d probably take it and give it to someone else to use.

@Ms. 3D RC Flyer: Well, I would love it but my parents would be like “wtf is a red box?” because they never use them. So you might end up wasting money on people who will never use it … then again, those people can just give theirs to someone else who is excited about it! It’s definitely a cute idea, and I would be a very happy guest indeed to get such a favor, and would certainly use it. I love Redbox!!!!! So maybe the idea of diversifying the gift (as in, the movie rental AND the popcorn) is a good idea, so people can trade amongst themselves if they’re not into redbox but love popcorn

Nah, sorry. I use Netflix, and I honestly don’t know anyone that uses Redbox. So I would try to pawn this off on someone else.

I’d love that more than a chintzy little bag of M&Ms (which I dont’ even like)

I think that is a great idea! I personally do use redbox but if many others don’t then why not use the netflix recommendation from PPs.

I definately wouldn’t use it, we really don’t rent movies and a lot of older generation prob won’t know what redbox is

I’d rather you put your money toward an animal rescue or something, to be completely honest. I wouldn’t use any of the favors 🙁

I’m a bit confused trying to imagine what that would look like. Would you have the red box at your wedding?
I wouldn’t use it, as a guest I’d rather you save the money or as you said put it towards food and drinks.

I love the idea! We used redbox all the time…but we don’t eat popcorn 🙂 So maybe 2 rentals… Or a rental with candy…. Or a variety – some with candy, some with popcorn

I would be thrilled :). We have Redboxes everywhere here, if where you’re at is like that, too, I’m guessing everyone will be familiar with them.

Ps… So funny that PPs don’t know people who use redbox – All of our friends use redbox… So, OP, do you know if your friends/guests use redbox?

I think it’s a great idea! I personally only use Netflix but if given a voucher i’d totally use the Redbox.

i don’t know what redbox is but if this redbox is available to ALL of your guests, and they know what it is, then it’s a cute idea.
