I used Dior Airflash Spray Foundation for my wedding day and I strongly recommend it! It was absolutely amazing! I do not know if they have a shade light enough for your skin, but it’s definitely something to look into! (It is expensive though… $60 or so)

A little bit of SPF isn’t really going to make that much of a whitecast. Many bridal makeup artists use Revlon Colorstay which has an SPF of 15 I think. They have many colors to choose from so you should be able to find a shade to match your fair skin and it looks lovely in photos. Makeup Forever HD foundation is also very popular in the bridal makeup world.

I also would recommend a bottle of Skindinavia Finishing Spray. I spray this on my bare skin before I apply any makeup (but after I use moisturizer) and then I spray it again once all my makeup is done. It makes my makeup looks lovely and last longer! I used the Bridal formula on my wedding day, but I have used all of the formulas which are all awesome! 🙂

Good luck!

I wear Bare Minerals and love it!  It’s just light enough for my skin and it covers pretty well.  I’m not sure if it’s good enough for wedding makeup, though.  I’ll also be keeping an eye on this thread!

I think you’re fine with some SPF in the makeup. I researched it a bit before I got married, and most makeup artists seemed to think it was an outdated idea from old film photography. I’m pretty pale and I wore a BB cream with a bit of powder (both with SPF) and it looked totally normal in photos.

As far as makeup, I really like Urban Decay for eyeshadow (I love their Naked palette) and their primer (seriously, primer is a must!). You could also try doing some false lashes to get your eyes to pop without having to really cake on the makeup.

Hey! I am a very pale, blue-eyed redhead and have previously been exactly in the same boat!

I had been prepared to do my own makeup but in the end chose to get my makeup done by the same salon who is doing my hair. I have gone for grey and heather-coloured eyeshadow and rosy tinted lips, and no hiding of the freckles!

Regardless, though, this is what I was going to do:

GOSH velvet primer

Bobbi Brown moisture rich foundation in porcelain

Benefit posie tint as blusher

Maybelline 24H gel eyeliner in black

Maybelline falsies waterproof black mascara

Then top with setting powder (make sure your makeup is just right because this stuff cements makeup to your face!). My makeup lady is using a brand for the stage because, frankly, I’m a sweaty person!

Now admittedly, I am lucky in that I have good, clear skin with few blemishes and barely need any concealer whatsoever.

What I absolutely recommend is that you get yourself to a department store, particularly something like Bobbi brown or even clinique or no7, and get a makeup trial. I thought I would never find a foundation for my super-fair skin until I went to a counter and let them find it for me!

I’m super light skinned, freckled and while not a full redhead I have natural red highlights and looking at your photo it looks like we are the same skin color. I used Jane Iredale makeup since I wanted the natural look but just a little bit more than normal. It stays on all day, didn’t run, didn’t make me breakout or anything and photographed beautifully. http://shop.janeiredale.com/  and here is a link specifically to Wedding sets http://shop.janeiredale.com/features/wedding-sets.htm

Edit: They also have starter and sample kits also you can find a place to try before you buy in your area probably, a lot of salons/spas in my area use these products for wedding/prom makeup.

@swimcat14:  I love Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer – they have it in a shade pale enough for me. I bet the rest of her makeup (like heavier foundation) would work for you as well.. I always buy the palest shade in everything LOL.

I would suggest buying a primer (like Urban Decay Primer Potion) to keep eye makeup in place… nothing worse than dark smudges on pale skin!

I second the PP who suggested the UD Naked palette… I use it all the time.

A blush like Benefit Dandelion works on everyone.. I’ve heard NARS Orgasm is good too, but I’ve never personally tried it.

Maybe this site could help you out: http://justforredheads.com/

I’m not a redhead… just a VERY pale brunette lol.

Emerald green also looks fabulous w. red hair.
