We recently scored a solid wood, pine queen sleigh bed and two matching night stands from kijiji (for only $125 CAD!), and I am struggling to decide how to refinish them.
I would really like a distressed white look, sort of like this:
I have looked at Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint, chalk paint, Minwax Whitewash Pickling as options, as well as using plain old white paint and antiquing the pieces.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what would be the best option to get the finished look I want? I was leaning towards Milk Paint but I’m just not sure.
Also, does anyone know anything about sealing with wax, tung/hemp oil, or polyurethane? I have used poly many times on wood pieces after staining, but have read that, when put on white items, it can turn yellow. However, poly is so much harder and stronger than wax as a sealer.
