I want to send our Save-The-Date Cards out in January or February since we have a lot of out of town guests, and the weekend we are getting married falls right in between Labor Day and FIs yearly guys’ canoe trip (a big deal for about 20 people that are going to be invited). It’s also going to be the first time that some people hear about the wedding at all. Should we register prior to sending out Save-The-Date Cards (in case someone is checking out our website) or not worry about it until later as my sister is planning a July shower?

@nqz100: This is a good question. We are sending our std’d in January.

They say you should register 6 months prior to your bridal shower or wedding (depending on what you’re registering for).
We sent our SavetheDates in March, 2010 (and we’re getting married Feb. 2011) but I have yet to register!!! lol
I don’t think you need to (as the savethedate just reminds them of the occasion). But, if you’re worried about out of town guests, etc – then I would register the 6 months out (as requested). That should be plenty of time; plus, ppl will be checking your wedding website all the way up until the wedding.
Good luck and let us know where you register! 🙂
