I’m torn on this too.  We have lived on our own for a while now and don’t really need most of the household stuff on our registry.  It would be a big help to get cash towards the honeymoon, but it feels sort of like a faux pas.  Anyone else have opinions on this?

I am totally doing this. we have been living together since 2006 sooo there is not much we need for our home. we will register at bed bath or target  for some new towels and maybe some kitchen items we want. Mostly we will register for our honeymoon. I think we have decided on honeyfund.com. There are no fees associated with this site (only if you are requesting payment for gifts through paypal and paypal charges you the fee). You list everything you want and then the gift giver chooses the item, let say a spa massage for two, they commit to purchase, they can print out something to put in a card and choose to give you cash, or check or pay via paypal. I didn’t like the fact that other sites charge like 7%. I also looked into a liberty travel honeymoon registry and they charge like 7% but what I really didn’t like is that someone can’t go into any liberty travel and purchase something off my registry. They can only purchase a gift card. LAME.

I know there will be some who think that a honeymoon registry is tacky but I think it is great and for those who want to get us something for the home then they can via our other registry.

We are, in addition to our traditional registries.  Even though we’ve lived together for over a year and have mostly everything we need, some old-fashioned people still prefer having the option of a more traditional registry to pick from vs. a honeymoon registry.

We set up a honeyfund registry, but we also have registries at Target and Bed, Bath & Beyond in case people do not like it.  One of my Fiance cousins just got married and she had a honeymoon registry too, so the family will already be familiar with it, which I hope helps.

We’re using Honeyfund in addition to traditional registries at Macy’s and Williams Sonoma.
