I’m in the process of registering and I’ve starting a registry online. Since it’s online, I’ve noticed the product reviews for certain products, especially things like dinnerware and bed sheets. I’ve noticed a lot of mixed reviews on a lot of different products. Things like sheets didn’t hold up over time, plates chipped, etc, although there have been positive reviews as well. Did you pay attention to these things when you registered? I’m already confused enough and now I’m trying to sort through the reviews to find quality products.

I did for sure! I think its better than relying on the salesperson to tell you whats good and what isnt.
What sort of dinnerware and sheets are you registered for? and where did you register?

I definitely paid attention to online reviews as well. Many of them actually started with, “I got this item as a wedding gift, but…”

I’ve had a mixed approach. Some things, I’m skeptical of the bad review so I leave them on anyway. At one point, I had a set of dishes I really wanted that got great reviews, but when I called the store with a question the salesman warned me away because he said they wouldn’t stand up to everyday use. So that was handy. I’ve also talked to friends who I know have X or Y product or similar to see what they think.
Oh, and amazon is a good place for reviews beyond the registry store, too.

The negative reviews did have a lot of impact. If the majority was poor reviews or low stars, I didn’t put it on my registry.
Still working on the registry.. I honestly don’t think we need that much. And we’re not “fancy” people who need to buy vases and crystal. Haha

@eagle: That’s still a work in progress so far. We have a registry at BBB but I have yet to go in the store and register. Hoping to avoid having an employee tail me when I finally go in.
Where else we register depends a lot on what dishes we decide on. Fiance is pretty much dead set against registering for any dishes that have the color white on them so that brings down our options significantly.

@Cem0930: We registered for Fiesta place settings at Macy’s. Love the quality and all of the colors!
