@thanlon_88:  What list?  Would you mind posting a link so I could use it for when I register?  Thanks!

I registered for my first wedding for all the usual stuff.  The things I used the most were my vacuum cleaner, my pots and pans set, and my Corningware.

I have a bridal shower next month and I made sure to get her her Corningware.

Never used my fancy dishes, wine glasses, etc.

I found that browsing the Amazon Wedding Registry Guide was super helfpul. Tons of things I wouldn’t have even thought of.

Also, we registered for at least 2 sets of bedding per bed, so that we could easy swap out if unexpected guests arrived and we didn’t have notice to clean the bedding. Same with bath sets. We got one in blue and one in brown, so we can just pull all the towels/mats/etc and wash and store them and just take the other clean one from storage and lay it down. Then there’s no waiting with a naked bathroom πŸ™‚

As for appliances, Mr.ND wants to go buy a Keurig NOW. It’s going to be a long 45ish days trying to keep him away from Target/BBB. LOL. I LOVE the one my sister has at our apartment.

We use our Cuisinart griddler all the time!  For grilled sandwiches/paninis, to make breakfast with eggs on one side (flat grill) and bacon on the other (griddle) and for burgers and chicken.

It’s awesome!

@thanlon_88: I’m a huge baker, so I use my pyrex set all the time. Basically everything in it. Love it all!

A ginormous rolling duffle bag.  Essential for packing as much as possible while still keeping it under the 50lb limit.  We were able to fit everything both of us would need for our week long honeymoon into that sucker and saved $60 in checked luggage fees since we didn’t need to check a second suitcase πŸ™‚ I love our new his and her big fluffy bathrobes too.

I would definitely take some time to go carefully through your things and figure out what’s due for upgrade. We have several bedding sets, for eg, but most have been washed thin, so we’re registering for all new.

Are you a big cook? Gadgets I use all the time are: blender, food processor, immersion blender, stand mixer, food scale, salad spinner, and of course knives/cutting boards, food saver system. We also registered for the cuisinart griddler – we have a foreman but the finish is flaking so I rarely use it now – and a toaster oven.

We also looked at upgrades for our bathroom – a new curtain rod and shower fixture, each of which clocked in under $75 at BB&B.

My mom and everyone else has advised me: whatever you do, register for NICE towels.  Apparently if you skimp on them, you’ll end up having to wash them more (don’t absorb water well so they get gross faster), and then have to replace them.  When you’re buying them on your own, they get REALLY expensive when you’re finally trying to update to something that will last you a long time.

@indibee:  If you decide o get a Keurig (and I highly recommend them, I’d marry mine if Fh would let me ;)) And you have a costco? Buy it from there, it is BY FAR the best deal.

The kitchen-aid mixer: it’s every wife’s must have!!!. And while you’re at it, maybe some of it’s attachments (pasta maker, meat grinder, grain mill… you get the picture!!)
