Canadian Bees I need your help!
My FH were doing our registry today, and had tons of fun at Sears. It was so easy and a great experience all around. All the staff were friendly, they set up our account on the computer, then transferred it onto the scanner tool, and set us loose in the store! We scanned anything we had on our list (and even a few things we didn’t!) and it was great because we could see and analyze each item we added. Then we went to Wal*Mart. It was a nightmare. We went to the customer service desk and asked how we would go about doing a registry at the store: the staff member stared at us blankly, while a manager had to tell us it was “online only”. “Online only isn’t that bad” we thought. “We can still wander the store, pick out what we want, and then just add it at home.” Not so! When I went to look up the items we’d recorded to add to our registry, none of them are appearing online! I ended up finding HALF of the bathroom set we want (soap dispenser and trash can, but no toothbrush holder or soap dish), and nothing else! I’d even recorded to item numbers off the on shelf label on a few items and even THAT wouldn’t bring up the item.
I’m overly frustrated with this process being such a pain in the butt, and would love to just trash the Wal*Mart registry altogether and do it somewhere else…but I’m in Canada, and am struggling to find stores that have decent brands at a good price. Any suggestions from brides who have registered already?
Note: We’re already registered at Sears, and are considering an Amazon registry, as well as a Honeymoon registry (please no debates about this…my 70 year old grandma LOVES honeymoon registries which is one of the reasons we’re adding it!), but we’re looking for one more store that allows for “in-store” registering and shopping, that isn’t as expensive as the Bay or Sears.

Have you looked at Bed Bath and Beyond?

Do you have Target or JC Penney? Honestly more than two seems a little chaotic to me….three would be tops..otherwise people might have to check four lists to find what they want to buy! I’d stick to Sears and Amazon or Target, plus the honeymoon registry if you’re set on it. Don’t forget, people don’t have to buy the gift where you registered, they can go to walmart and then check it off your list manually….so if you have a digital store and a higher-end physical store, they still have other options.

We registed at Bed Bath and Beyond 🙂 Lots of variety price-wise and easy for people to either shop online or in store which was important since we have guests across Canada.

I think we’re going with Bed, Bath & Beyond. Anyone have any experience with Williams Sanoma? My fiancé is in love with their dining ware and cutlery, and I have a weakness for their chef’s knives.
How do you feel about people registering for only maybe 10 things at a store? We don’t want/need anything else from Williams Sanoma but my fiancé REALLY wants a few things from them.

What does your Fiance want from WS? A lot of the things there can be found at other stores (sometimes for less).
Too many registries makes it really confusing for guests, and yourself if you need to return things. Going to 5 stores vs going to 1 or 2.

I registered in two places: the bay; and myregistry.com . I love myregistry.com because I can add items from anywhere on the internet, including Etsy, Canadian Tire, Chapters-Indigo, Bed Bath and Beyond, Kitchen Stuff Plus, WestElm etc. It’s also incredibly easy to use (much easier than the bay registry site), and people can purchase the item wherever they want and then take it off the list themselves (this is great if someone finds something on sale at a different chain). You can definitely add a few items from Williams Sonoma if you would like to too!
