Yay, my fiance and I are starting to receive gifts off our registry – 2 1/2 months before our wedding! My questions to you bees – did you wait or are you going to wait until after the wedding to use your wedding gifts or did you start opening them and using them right away? I just got my flatware set and really want to break it out!

We used ours right away! I saw no reason to wait!

some stuff we’re saving until we buy our new home, others we used right away.

@Sea_Ashley: I am opening as I get them, writing the thank you note, and putting them away. We have a small one bedroom apartment and I don’t have space for boxes. However, I am not using them until after the wedding (just in case the unspeakable happens and I have to return them.

We are in the process of moving and are just waiting till after the wedding to open everything. Thank you cards are being sent out as we receive the gifts.

We’ve received a bunch and we’ll start using them when we move into our house next weekend. Everything is sitting in storage or my parents’ living room until then.

i didn’t vote since everything stayed in the boxes since we were in the process of moving but supposedly you’re supposed to wait until after, but rules are more like “guidelines” anyway right?
send the thank you cards as soon as soon as possible once you get the gifts though so people don’t worry that your gift didn’t arrive:)

@Sea_Ashley: We’ve used some of them. But most of them are piled up in our dining room! We bought a house in November and it is still empty so it makes a perfect wedding room. I’ve taken a few things out but haven’t gotten ambitious enough to unpack and put it all away!

I saved all of our gifts until after the wedding to use them. 1) We already had been living together for ages so everything was either an upgrade item or a not-really-necessary item. In some ways, it was a way to continue the celebration of our nuptials.
That said, because we’re searching for a house to buy, I haven’t use the majority of my gifts yet. They’re all piled up in our spare bedroom.
