Absolutely. I would say we ended up returning about 75% of gifts and completely started over with decor and things we wanted. When you have the gun it is so fun to point and shoot but in reality you often have very little space or need for most of that stuff.

Nope. Not one.

I didn’t even bother to register until about 4-5 months prior to our wedding; that way I had a very realistic and practical idea of what we actually needed at that point. I specifically made our registry a list of items I absolutely knew we needed/wanted and would have purchased ourselves if we had not received them as gifts. I never bought into silly registry checklists because they totally didn’t apply to us as a couple who had already been living together, had our home more or less established, and had zero room for useless crap we’d use only a few times a year.

And it worked out perfectly. We received exactly what we asked for, we use all of our gifts regularly, and have only had to make one return.

I currently go back and forth with some things on our registry.  I love everything we put on there but we’re more than likely going to be living in an apartment.  So I wonder if we should keep everything on there.  I don’t know if we will have the space right away. My main thing is charger plates — love the idea of them and we’re registered for a slate blue-ish/gray color so they wouldn’t necessarily need to be used just for the holidays but any type of party really.  But we’re not really big party people….and we probably won’t have the space for them.  But they’re still on there currently.

Did anyone ever register for charger plates and not use them?  o_o It would take 12 items off our list.  When I was at the store they had everything set up all fancy like (minus those pricey water goblets and glasses…def knew those weren’t needed for us).  They set our plates up on a charger plate…on a nice placemat w/nice napkin and silverware we were currently registered for (ended up deleting that and going another route lol).  Everything looked lovely and it was very us.  Fancy but not super duper fancy — still felt laid back but just a more dressed up look.  I dunno, lol.  Help!  XD

My soon-to-be wife made us register for a wok.  I really don’t see that getting too much use, but I couldn’t talk her out of it!

We have too much junk already in our house so we made absolutely sure to only register for things we would actually need and use.  I go back over the registry every few months and make sure the choices are all still solid.

We only registered for things we absolutely needed & would use. I definitely didn’t bulk up our registry with knick knacks because I HATE clutter. That said, we haven’t used a lot of items, because we’re supposed to move in a month, and we thought it made more sense to keep things in boxes & open them at the new place. I am dying to use the stuff, though (especially the Kitchenaid!).
