I would personally wait for the person to give it to you as the gift – right a lovely thank you note – and then exchange it for the other flatware you love.

Also – when you figure it out – how often will this person be at your house eating and noticing the flatware?  Some people won’t remember the EXACT flatware they gave someone – it all looks the same in the box!

I would return what they send you (after sending a thank you and not mentioning that fact) and purchase what you want.  Change the rest of the stuff on your registry to the ones that you do want.

After you receive the flatware you registered for, return it and get what you really want.

I wouldn’t register for flatware and two different stores – especially this close to your wedding.

I doubt they will notice.  Most people don’t scour registries like we do!

You could put both on.  A lot of people have more than one set because one would be formal and the other casual.  I think I have three different sets right now, mostly because I couldn’t decide.

Id add the flatware to the other registry.  We registered for 2 different sets of flatware – an “everyday” set and a “formal” set even though the formal set could be used as an every day set as well.
