I have always thought that it was OK to put registry information in a shower invitation because the shower is not thrown by the bride and groom (thus it is not seen as the bride and groom asking for gifts).  However, the wedding invitation should not have registry information included.  I put a small inset into my invitation with hotel and transportation information, as well as my wedding website, which contained our registry information.

My Maid/Matron of Honor included a little note at the bottom of my invitation that said “Clare is registered at Target, etc” I dont think anyone thought this was tacky!!! I think it is acceptable for shower invites but a big no no for wedding invitations

I think its against ettiquette to do so on a wedding invite, but I always see it on the shower invite. If you don’t feel comfortable doing that though you can have your bridesmaids and family members use word of mouth to get the information out, and include it on a wedding website.

I’ve always seen it ON the shower invitation or on a little card included in the package.  Not against etiquette at all IMO.

People ususally say this about putting the registry info in the wedding invite…it’s fine for the shower, since you aren’t throwing it.

We put registry info in with our shower invites, or rather my Mother-In-Law did. Then for the wedding, many people knew, but many others didn’t and asked why it wasn’t with the invitation. So my Future Sister-In-Law put the registry info in with her wedding invites. She had it in with the shower invites but that’s only a small number of the guests, since her guest list is about double what ours was.
