We didn’t, but that was easy in our case because we didn’t move in together until after the wedding. So it was simple to just keep all of the gifts packed up in their original boxes as we’d be moving them anyway!

We didn’t and I don’t think you are supposed to.  The gifts are supposed to be something you use together as a married couple.  So if, God forbid, something happens and the wedding doesn’t occur, then you are supposed to return the gifts.

The only gift we’ve used so far is the GPS my mom bought as an engagement gift.  She specifically bought it though so we could have it for a trip that we were planning on taking the weekend after the engagement party.

All the rest of our engagement, shower and early wedding gifts are sitting in the guest room at FI’s house waiting for me to move in after the wedding.  I do have to admit that we have seriously been considering using the super-snuggly blanket that FI’s mom got me for a shower gift, but so far, we’ve just found other blankets to cuddle on the couch with.

We did, everything we got at the shower we have been using. We didnt have space to hold on to all of the gifts plus our own stuff. So, we empties out the cupboards and went to town on the new things.

Yep– we got 12 place settings and a crockpot before the wedding that we used. 🙂

I got our bathroom scale at the shower, and it was the only gift we used beforehand.

Darling Husband didn’t move in until after the wedding, due to roommates/leases, so I wanted to wait until we could use things together. Plus, it was really nice being able to finally use things- like Christmas!

We aren’t married yet, but I’ve always wondered about this. Good question, OP. 🙂

We haven’t, but we also aren’t living together until after the wedding. It makes sense for us to just wait.

Definitely not – even though he has already moved into our ‘to-be’ shared accomodations.  I’m not moving in until we’re married. I wouldn’t be able to let him use my coveted housewares until we start our home together!  I feel like it’s bad luck to use before the wedding anyways for some reason.

We started using a few gifts right away.  For example, two of my friends teamed up to buy me a Nespresso machine, and they specifically told me they wanted me to use and enjoy it immediately!  We also used some smaller items (like a garlic press) that were replacements or upgrades.

We waited to use our dinnerware, flatware, major appliances (Kitchen Aid), towels, and the rest.

No, but only because people mailed them to our home (MT) while I was in OH for my shower. I didn’t get back to MT until after the wedding. Otherwise, we probably would have used a few things, even though I know you’re not “supposed” to. I would want someone to use my gift immediately.
