So my Fiance and I started on our registry yesterday. We are registered at Target and Bed Bath and Beyond. We have lived together for about 18 months and have had a very hard time when it comes to this. Because we have lived together for a while, we have most everything that other couples might register for (toasters, coffee makers, etc.). When we went to the stores yesterday, we spent about 3 hours walking around and scanning everything we knew we needed/wanted. THe lady that helped us told us that we should register for about 200 items (we have 95 invitations going out to 205 people). The issue is that we have about 65-70 items, and we can’t find ANYTHING else. We have even decided to get new stuff to replace things that we have that are a little ragged. What should I do? I don’t want to have a bare registry, but at the same time I don’t want people to waste their money on things we don’t need. Please HELP!

I would make a third registry that was a little more frivolous (ex. electronics), or just create a honeymoon registry.

Do you have old towels or appliances that need upgrading? I had mismatched towels, so I registered for some new towels. Also keep in mind that a percentage of your guests will give you cash too. So, you may not need to go hog wild with the registry.

I’d say register for two places. Target and another location.

Thanks Jenniphyr. That’s a great idea. I will look into that.
@brox: We’ve already registered for new towels and things like that. I’m still out of stuff!
@adw2c: I’m already registered at 2 places.

@FutureMrsFord1087: we had the same problem so we did 2 “traditional” (in-store) registries and a honeyfund. I’m afraid we are still going to run out, but at least we can keep adding things to the honeyfund and it’s basically just getting cash, rather than adding superfluous physical items we really don’t need or have space for!

Another option would perhaps be to register for furniture? Or outdoor expensive things..a swing, grill etc. Or go for the honeymoon registry! Our BBB registry (180 guests) had 150 items, 49 are left – Macy’s had 30 or so, 21 left. I wouldn’t worry 🙂 have someone keep an eye on it to tell you if it’s emptied
