Registries make it easier for people not only to know what you need or want but also see a little more about your style and taste.  It can help them see that you are going for red accents in your kitchen or that you prefer white linens.  Sometimes buying gifts for people is difficult because there are so many options in colors, sizes, etc. and registries make it easier for people because they will already know what you like.

Registries also make it a lot easier for you to return things if, say, seven people decide to get you the same toaster.  With a registry, people can see that the toaster has already been purchased and choose something else as a gift.  Also, if you are returning to a registry, you can sometimes (depending on the store) get away without having a receipt, which is something that is hard to do without a registry.

And last, registries can also come with big discounts.  A lot of stores offer discounts to people for “buying off the registry” which is nice for guests.

I think it makes it easier so that you don’t end up getting 10 toasters that you have to worry about returning.  This way you can get one of each item that you need and have a cohesive look to your kitchen.  Also, the completion discounts are great!

I don’t *need* anything, but did a registry for 2 reasons:  it makes it easier for guests (b/c most want to give a gift) and b/c I want the completion discount.

Do the registry!  Since you need a lot of different things, it’s actually going to be easier for you than for those of us that already have a ton of stuff.  It makes life so much easier on your guests, because they can choose from a list of what to get you, and they know they’re getting you something that you need, want, and that someone else hasn’t already gotten you whatever they’re purchasing.  Yay!  Also, it makes life easier on you, because you don’t end up with 6 blenders and no spoons.  I really really don’t think you’ll regret it!
