Hi Bees, I hope this is the right place to ask this. What my Fiance and I are doing is getting married at home in a registry office at the end of June and then later having a ceremony overseas. I have my wedding dress sorted but I’m a bit stuck on what to wear on the actual day that we will be married! I think my wedding dress would be too much and also we think I should keep the wedding dress for the ceremony. Fiance wants to see it for the first time then.
I could go for a plain white/cream/ivory dress, either long for a more formal look or shorter for something more casual or a completely different colour/pattern and stay away from the “bridal” look altogether. I think I would prefer to stay somewhat “bridal” though, iykwim, but not full-on bride because I think that would be too much for a small registry office with probably 6/8 guests at the most. I could also go for pants but I would prefer to stick with a dress of some sort. I wear jeans pretty much all the time so I would feel a bit more special in a dress, even a casual dress.
I was thinking of putting my hair up. I will be wearing my hair down with a veil on the ‘wedding day’ so putting it up on the ‘marriage day’ would be a bit different. I could get it put up in a nice “bridal” style and with a long white/cream/ivory/similiar long dress that might be the look I’m going for. Sort of “Hmm, she looks like she might be a bride” rather than “Why is she dressed like that for early dinner on a Monday afternoon?”
We have a (beautiful, lol) little girl who will be 18 months at the time. I’m going to dress her in a pale gold dress and put in her hair either a headband tiara or a headband with flowers around it. I don’t want to put her hair up as I think it’s too formal for her in this situation because the day will be so casual. As for himself he wants to wear his black suit, he’s hoping to get into it by then, and just a shirt as a waistcoat would be too dressy. We’re not asking anyone else to dress up so we’re not worried about matching. He could wear a pale gold shirt which would match our flower girl but then I’d like to have something gold about me too so we would tie together as a family. Which might clash with my jewellery which is silver coloured. I’m not getting any new jewellery for either day, will be wearing stuff I already own
Sooo, sorry for all the rambling but what would you guys do? All opinions welcome because I’m still at the deciding stage. Although I will have to make up my mind soon!
