I voted for one medium gift because the meduim things on my registry are things I don’t already have.  The smaller items I already have and are just replacements.  Plus I know that I would normally buy smaller things myself instead of spending the money ont he medium items (hence the reason I don’t have them.)

The smaller items are more desireable to me. By these I mean – decorative items like picture frames, vases, candle holders, decorative bowls, prints to hang on walls, etc. The reason I’m saying this is because I am more likely to go out and buy myself a new toaster because its needed (or microwave, tea pot, mixing bowls, etc) whereas with these little items I would be less likely to go out and buy them because they are more of a want

Personally I’d like a bunch of little items… I always purchase a handful of little items for someone’s shower and then put them in a pretty basket. It’s like the gift that never ends when there are so many small gifts to take out!

I agree it totally depends on what the little/medium stuff is.

I got a bunch of random little stuff at my shower.  Some of it I love, some of it I really don’t have a use for.  Bamboo tongs to pull toast from the toaster, not sure how often I will use these.  Chip Clips can never have enough of them!!

We have mostly little things on our registry (less than $50) but a few medium/larger items as well. The most expensive was our Kitchenaid mixer, which is well worth the cost.
