So Mr. Purple Peacock and I just finished registering this week. Showers start in August so it was something that was high on the priority list. I feel MUCH better now!! Some things you should understand about Mr. Purple Peacock and I that made this project soo very interesting!
Mr. P and I arrived at Target one evening, grabbed a gun and got started. We started in the Kitchen department and went from isle to isle scanning everything our hearts (ok more like MY HEART) desired. Mr. P being the frugal man he is stopped me and said, “Babe! Scan only what we need so we really get what we need!” I told him he was crazy! We needed to scan everything we could possibly want to give people options. We got a little bored with Target. Everything was a bit messy and I’m not a messy shopper. I’ve been in retail on and off for years but for some reason I am not the type to dig through sale racks. I REALLY wish I was! Maybe one day someone will teach me to be. Anyways, that being said..Target just wasn’t organized enough for me to feel comfortable there. We decided we got the basics and could do more online need be. We did find some AWESOME dishes that we feel in love with.
We headed over to B3 (Bed Bath and Beyond) and met some associates that really made the process fun! We played with a mock table creating table settings that would match our dishes. While we were there I was telling the associates Mr. P’s registry philosopy and they told him you want to give people options. If they feel that what you registered for is “boring” they will buy you whatever they want. I should add that I don’t think I’ve EVER looked at someone’s registry when attending a wedding or baby shower. I am THAT person that buys what I think is AWESOME! Maybe I’ll take a note from my new friends. At B3 we found our perfect flatware! We didn’t finish all in one day and as a matter of fact we aren’t really finished you could say. I had really wanted to register for curtains and bathroom towels, rugs, and shower curtains however I didn’t find bathroom decor I was sold on AND I’m not sure what curtains would work with what I am going for.
I say all that to ask…does anyone else put that much thought into registering? Is it typical to go in knowing what you want each room to look like and registering for such? I’m not even sure that everything I registered for in regards to the kitchen matches the theme I want to create! I want an Italian theme but don’t know how to make it work with the dishes I have chosen. Any suggestions?
