So….almost did not set up a registry. My fiance and my mom both insisted it would be helpful to people to know what to get us. So with the help of my fiance, we set one up, and it took awhille to make sure there was a variety of items we both needed and were on different price ranges.
I am back to wishing I had not wasted my time with the registry. EVERYONE who asks about gift giving has not read, or looked up the items that were registered. I would be supprised if one person has yet to look at the registry. Its very frusterating. We did provide the site of where the registry is at, and no one is looking.
We had the shower yesterday, which was filled with awkwardness for numerous reasons ( much to be expected I assumed) and only a few people brought gifts. It was very apparent people did not look at the registry, I’m guessing there will be more of this.
SO- did people bug you about the registry? Did people pay attention to it or was it a lost cause as well?

The old church ladies who were my grandma’s friends didn’t look at it and bought me expensive useless stuff like unmatched crystal candlesticks and bowls but otherwise people did buy stuff off it.

Showers often deviate a lot from registries.
The people who are asking are the ones that you can tell about the registry… they are probably asking to find out where you are registered or what you want, that’s your opportunity to direct them to it.

I think we only got like 3 gifts that weren’t from our registry.

I had a surprise shower last night!!! (EEK)
And every single thing I got was off of my registry! Not a single bit of deviation!
I’d say everyone used it and was glad it was there.

The majority of our gifts were from our registry. Sure, we got a few that weren’t, and those were actually pretty thoughtful as well.

Everything except one thing (really nice luggage) was gifted from our registry.

Almost all of the gifts we received were gifts we had registered for. I do think that people will start to look at your registry a lot more once the wedding is a little closer though, like in the weeks leading up to it.

Both my fiance and I direct people to the registry a lot. So I’m wondering why people are shopping in the dark haha. It’s nice to recieve presents either way..not complaining about that…just frusterated that we seemed to waste our time on the registry!

We may have gotten half of our gifts from our registry, and the rest were random knick-knacks. Whomever did use our registry didn’t notify the cashier, so we ended up with 5 sets of measuring cups and 3 of the same toaster! Thank goodness these toasters were from Bed, Bath and Beyond, because they took them back after we explained to them that we weren’t given gift receipts. 😛
