I’m a bit uncomfortable with how you described being rushed with your fiancé and his mother. I saw choosing our wedding bands as a private fun thing to do with my Fiance, and I would have never dreamed of having either of our mothers there. That doesn’t settle well with me on your behalf.
Maybe try going out again to a few places on your own to see if you find something you like that is comfortable without the stress of having to pick a ring right that second? Going by yourself will give you the freedom to try as many combinations within your budget as you would like without feeling pressed for time. Once you know what you really like, you could go back with your Fiance.
You could also try ordering something inexpensive online that is comfortable if you are sure of your ring size. I ordered a plain band from Amazon for like $20 just to get a feel for how that looked with my engagement ring and ended up loving how comfortable it was. I will keep that for when I want something on my finger but I don’t want my real wedding set to get roughed up or in danger of getting lost.
Good luck, bee!

I think that ring would be a lovely rhr, maybe get it sized for your right hand to wear during the ceremony? You can also keep it as a “travel” or chore ring for when you don’t want to wear your (beautiful!) Engagement Ring. Some people wear their wedding band on the right or not at all. There’s really no rules. Then either exchange just the e-ring on w-day or get a berricle stand in. Berricle.com has a 40% sale today and some gorgeous pave bands that would look really good with your ring. They have a good selection and some curved bands I can imagine with your ring. Good luck!

When we went shopping for wedding bands, I wasn’t rushed, but I didn’t pick out something I was in love with it. My husband (then fiance) had his sitting on the end table next to his chair, and every now and then he’d try it on and say “Yep, it fits!” He loved the ring we chose for him, but I kept looking at the one we chose for me and get more depressed. Finally, I just came clean with him and told him I didn’t really like my wedding band. So back to the jewelry store we went, and we found exactly what I wanted. Seven years later, I’m still in love with my wedding band, and he’s still in love with me.
Here’s what you need to remember. He asked you to marry him. He wants you in his life for the rest of his life. That means he loves you and wants you to be happy. He won’t know if you don’t tell him how you feel.

to be fair he didn’t take her to one store only, op said they had already looked in ‘so may shops’ and she hasn’t wanted anything, perhaps he was worried that the wedding was quickly approaching and wanted her to have a ring.
op it’s not that the ring doesn’t go with the engagement ring, it’s just way way too small for you. It actually looks so uncomfortable. If you want a thin dainty band why don’t you just buy a simple silver band? If you’re replacing it in a year there’s no need to spend another $100

Sounds like you can’t exchange but you can find a cheap gold filled band on Etsy for around $20. I have one that I’ve worn almost everyday for a year and it still looks perfect.

I finally confessed to my fiance that I couldn’t wear that wedding band, and we are going to pick out a simple thin 2mm silver band soon. I love my e.ring but as the setting is so big I only wear it when I leave the house, I’m too afraid to bang it around. I definitely need something comfortable and simple that I can wear 24/7.
Thank you for sharing your experience! That’s how I felt too when I looked at my wedding band, I had like a worsening sense of dread that this huge thing was going to sit on my finger at least a year or two, til we could replace it with something I loved.
His mom was there because he wanted help picking out nice clothes for the ceremony. She ended up paying for the clothes too and helping me find a slip for under my dress as it was a little see-through. I saw some nice rings online that I liked but as we live in Sweden it’s hard to find places that ship to us and my fiance didn’t want to have a ring shipped to my sister and brought over to Sweden with her when she comes for the wedding, since I wouldn’t be able to try it on beforehand or see it to make sure nothing was wrong with it.

I’m so glad it’s working out! And please don’t be afraid to wear your engagement ring all the time. It really is a lot more durable than you think. I wear my rings constantly. I only take them off to clean them or if I have put my hands in something messy while cooking. They definitely take a beating, and they’re fine.

Just an update if anyone was wondering, we ordered a new wedding band, much simpler and just 2mm wide! It even has one tiny diamond on it for a little bling, I love it. 🙂
