In December, we upgraded my wedding set (rings, stone and went with a different stone shape). I loved it. Then I got the idea a few weeks ago to have my original stone put into a new setting for my right hand. Now I’m having major buyers’ remorse for my upgraded set. I absolutely adore my new setting (RHR) and I wish I had just done this instead. It’s so much more “me”. And I’m kicking myself for spending *crazy* money on my upgrade.
Oh, the hard lessons we learn! Has anyone else regretted an upgrade, or am I alone in this?

Can you just wear the RHR on your left?

20sparklingyears : Absolutely. But we spent a small fortune for my upgrade, and I hate the idea of it just sitting in a box. I don’t want my husband to think I’m ungrateful, because I’m certainly not. I’m just dealing with hindsight being 20/20. You know?

Switch hands or sell it. Unfortunately you’ll never get back what you paid.

Both are pretty but I actually prefer the new set – it is something special – the RHR is gorgeous though – can’t go wrong with either!

Thanks, bees! Please don’t get me wrong. I think both are beautiful! 💎 I just am feeling like I didn’t “need” both. I thought I wanted the extra bling of the bigger stone (1/2 carat more with the pear). Maybe it’s a little guilt for spending money on myself? (We paid it off, so it’s not creating a financial issue. Just a “could have spent it elsewhere” guilt.)
I appreciate the feedback. I just didn’t want to say anything to my husband right now. He’d be very understanding, I know. But I wouldn’t want him to feel like he had to “fix” my mixed feelings, if that makes sense.

hisfavoritewife : they are both beautiful! I do prefer the rhr though, but I like round stones best.

nykkee : I think that plays a role. I *thought* I’d just fall in love with my pear, and for awhile I did. But I haven’t loved it more than my round.
Maybe mine can be a Tale of Caution for anyone else considering a drastic change for an upgrade? LOL!

hisfavoritewife : I’m in LOVE with your rhr!!! That said, they’re both beautiful rings. I always tell people, you’re not the first person in history to adore fine jewelry! Don’t feel guilty if it’s not creating a financial strain. If you have children down the road, they’ll be great heirlooms. And for now, just enjoy the heck out of them! I have two rings I alternate between. I mostly wear my fave, but I do still wear my original set too. I don’t like wearing things on my right hand so that’s why I alternate. But just enjoy both of you don’t mind rings on both hands!

greeneyedbee : Great perspective! I have already passed a few pieces down to my oldest daughter. I don’t have a lot of jewelry, actually. I have 4 “substantial” pieces (these rings, a string of pearls, and my wedding set from my late husband). I don’t buy it. (But I sure do love window shopping for it!) These will definitely go to my kids in the future. ❤️

Have been absolutely in love with your RHR since you got it!! I would definitely just switch them for now and when the guilt of spending money on your upgrade fades you can just wear it for special occasions or when you want to see something different on your finger for awhile 🙂 I appreciate you sharing your hindsight on upgrades, and both rings truly are gorgeous, no need to feel bad on that front!
