My mom passed away from a stroke a month after my wedding – you just never know.
My biggest regret is not taking more family photos and spending more time with them (in the midst of the busyness) on the day of. I thought taking a staged photo or two was good, but wish I had more candids and that I hadn’t been so stressed. We actually used one of the formal portraits and cropped it for her memorial picture. She didn’t like taking photos, so I was grateful we had a nice picture to use.
In 20 or 30 years when you look back you aren’t going to care about the table decorations. Make sure you put family first and tell your photographer to do so too!

I am so sorry for your loss. And thanks for the reminder about prioritizing people over things; we all need it now and then. I wish you peace and strength; losing your mum is tough.

Hugs, Bee. I am sorry for your loss. Perhaps some of your guests have some candids to share.

How devastating, OP, I’m so sorry for your loss. My grandfather died a few months after my wedding and I was so glad that he was able to be there. It’s hard when the most beautiful moments and the most tragic moments of our lives come right on top of each other. It rips at the heart. Wishing you and your family healing.
