“Cushion” is used to refer to any squre or rectangle stone with rounded corners.

Antique cushions tylically are chunkier (bigger facets).

Both are beautiful in my opinion. I have a modern cushion (hearts & arrows cut) for my e-ring, if I get another diamond ring for a right-hand-ring in the future, I’ll probably get an antique cushion. I love both styles.

GoodOldGold has a lot of informational videos on their YouTube channel, including ones about different cushions: http://www.youtube.com/diamondinfoman

I have one of Good Old Gold’s August Vintage Cushions. I love the facet pattern of the vintage style cushins, the bolder and chunkier flashes of light, and the more distinct facet pattern.

You can see examples here: http://www.pricescope.com/forum/show-me-the-ring/show-me-your-avc-avoec-diamonds-t123446.html

And the website: http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamondResults.php?shape=16&ctMin=0.4&ctMax=10&optSym=64&inHouse=3&resultsColumns=268435535

Of course, these are not real “antique” cuts. They are cut for light performance but modeled in the style of an old cut. There are also some beautiful, true antique cushions out there. I just wanted something that would look antique but still have stunning/ideal performance.

These are all “cushion” diamonds, and there are many more cutting styles you’ll also see for cushions.

@lauraminn – I love Good Old Gold! They will definitely get my business again in the future when I’m jewelry shopping.

@abbyful:  I love GOG too!  Their august vintage cushions are GORGEOUS.  My personal preference is a modern cushion though, so we sourced a brilliant cushion through GOG but I do appreciate the AVC’s too!
