Instead of doing a traditional rehearsal dinner we are doing a get together for everyone. I really like this as it is really the only ‘wedding weekend’ activity I have planned for out of town guests. My dad’s friend is letting us have it in his establishment and gave us a great deal on food and drinks, so I don’t want to turn the venue down!
The only downside is that the place in question is like a nightclub that is attached to a restaurant. I guess they usually have the lights down low and some disco lights going or whatever, but without that it is really plain and bare. Also, because it’s a club with a dance floor it’s really darn big, so I don’t want it to look like this big empty space.
We will have tables set up for the guests, a buffet table and a cake, but aside from the bar that is all that will be in the room.
I want it to look nice but don’t know how to jazz up such a big space with little already there to work with. I know that lighting and floral arrangements are typically good options, but I am already seeing the bill add up for those for the reception. If possible I’d rather not shell out for all that at what should be a casual affair.
Any good ideas on what would spice up the room? The event itself is ‘dressy casual’, so any thoughts on what decor I could use with that? The only thing I have so far is maybe big paper lanterns on the ceiling but even that might look odd with it being a low ceilinged room!
