Hey Bees – I wanted to get your feedback on this rehearsal dinner dress (Libby, by Jenny Yoo):
I’m strongly considering it. Its definitely a splurge for just the rehearsal dinner. But we’re having a fairly large rehearsal dinner (80-90 people) and the dresscode is probably going to be dressy-cocktail. So I think I would like to look nicer than dressy-cocktail so I stand out a little. Plus I’d really like to wear white.
I’m “plus size” and pear shaped, and what I’ll probably do is have the waist brought up like 2 inches so it accentuates the smallest part of me and then goes out into the skirt at the parts I’d like to hide lol. I love this dress and am really thinking of ordering it. I called the Jenny Yoo flagship store and they said the dress is definitely geared toward cocktail attire and would be a good rehearsal dinner dress. What do you think??

I think it’s lovely! Definitely a splurge, but this is a once in a lifetime thing, so if it’s in your budget and you love it, I say go for it!

It’s pretty! If you can afford it, go for it! (Also, I am jealous of your budget 🙂 )

I would personally keep looking…that’s super expensive..nice dress though

I wouldn’t do it, and it IS in my budget. It’s really something that would be one wearing only, so do you think it’s worth it? If so, then go for it.

Wow… way over the top for a rehearsal dinner.

Thanks so much for all of the responses ladies. I really really appreciate it.
I totally know that this dress is over the top. Its definitely not the price range that I usually am looking within when I’m shopping for party dresses. I do sort of feel like the whole weekend is once in a lifetime and so if there was ever a time to go a little overboard it would be now. I am lucky in that my parents are paying for the wedding. I did save up a few thousand for the wedding specifically over the past few years in case there were things I wanted that were outside of what my parents wanted to do. I had actually thought that maybe I would contribute towards my wedding dress but we ended up coming in under budget (yay!) and its the gown of my dreams (double yay!) so I do have all of that money left over. Additionally were having more celebrations in my fiancé’s home country (Korea) after the wedding. So I’m thinking I’ll be able to wear it again there.

I like it! My thinking is how often do we get to wear fancy white dresses?? Check out the dress I was thinking about too I’m doing a poll too to see if it is too over the top

Love the dress..and I love over the top-ness… but I think you could find something similar or just as pretty if you look at white cocktail dresses that aren’t by a wedding designer…then you could use the money to be over-the-top somewhere else like the reception or honeymoon!…If you get it make sure to take lots of pictures in it. That’s how I justify my spendiest fashion purchases…

But also, more than my wedding dress cost!

Hey thanks for all the recent replies ladies! I just saw them 🙂 So…I did end up getting the dress!! The owner of the salon where I purchased my gown contacted her sister who also owns a bridal salon in another city and happens to carry Jenny Yoo, and her sister gave me 15% off! Super nice. Anyways, I couldn’t be more excited about this dress. I will definitely be taking it with me to Korea to wear it there, and I’m sure I’ll be able to wear it for other things too. SO EXCITED!! Its so pretty – I love it 🙂
@Apexgal22: Did you end up getting the dress you were thinking of?? I just love the idea of wearing white to the rehearsal dinner 🙂 🙂

@RhubarbPie: Oh gosh, it’s so pretty! I’m so glad you bought it, budget be damned.
Your rehearsal has a lot of guests and is quite dressy, so I think it’s important that you look stunning for that occasion as well. Great pick!

@Vera Girl: Hey I just saw this. Thanks for the reassurance lol 🙂 I can’t wait for it to come in and I feel really good about the choice I made.
So I just saw your post about your ceremony space in Bali. WOW! It looks AMAZING!! Breathtaking! My fiance was in Bali last year (I think? maybe a little before that) and I can’t wait to go at somepoint – it sounds incredible. I also noticed our wedding colors are so similar – I’m doing blush, charcoal and silver (it sounded like you were doing blush, charcoal and gold). So gorgeous! I don’t know if you have any semi casual wedding events that you would need flats for, but I’ve been pining over these shoes and I’m super sad that they don’t come in blush and silver. But they might be perfect for your wedding! http://us.jimmychoo.com/en/us/wallach/invt/121wallachscg/ If I can’t have them, I want someone else to have them lol 😛
Good luck to you!!
