Help! My Future Mother-In-Law wants to have the rehearsal dinner at the same restaurant/inn where the wedding reception will be. My mom says this is totally against wedding etiquette and wants me to tell my Future Mother-In-Law that this is a no-no. My family is from Atlanta and my ILs are from Seattle and we’re having the wedding in Seattle. Is it different etiquette out here? Can we have the rehearsal dinner in the same spot as the wedding reception? Thanks for the advice in advance 🙂

I live in Seattle… I think it’s probably totally fine to have your rehersal dinner at the same place as you have your wedding. I honestly don’t think there is probably anything etiquette-wise that says this is right or wrong 🙂 Where’s your wedding at?
Besides, my brother and sister in-law had their rehersal dinner at the same hotel as their wedding was at… in Connecticut. So I don’t think it’s a Seattle thing as much as it is a convenience thing.
By The Way, if you’re dead set against it and want to give Future Mother-In-Law some different options for rehersal dinner spots, PM me. I can give you a whole list of places 🙂

I am from the Northeast but I still agree with your mom. It would be like having a mini wedding. We are having a restaurant cater our wedding and while the actual restaurant has a nice banquet room, we are not even considering it because the food would be from the same place. Why would you want to have a pre-wedding before the actual wedding?

@MissRoot We are having the wedding on Orcas Island… do you know anywhere to have a rehearsal dinner up there?
@slicey19 I realize having the wedding on the island makes the rehearsal dinner options more limited but I feel like having the same food and same venue just DOES make it feel like a mini-wedding, especially since all the guests are invited to the rehearsal dinner (the wedding is pretty small).
Thanks for the advice, ladies! I feel a little like a bridezilla but the Future Mother-In-Law and I are just figuring out how to communicate with each other. I think we’ll be fine.
